WHAT IS THE SMD FILE (SIGNED MARK DATA)?
Once you’ve sent your data for validation to the TMCH, you’ll receive approval and a SMD file. This file allows potentials registrants such as yourself to apply for the sunrise phase of new gTLDs.
The SMD file includes the name of your brand, with some variations if it's a compound noun. For example, if your brand is named "Fantastic Brand", the SMD file will include text strings for "fantasticbrand" and "fantastic-brand".
