Problem
The following error message occurs on cPanel11 with FireFox 3 though the certificate is installed without error:
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
Cause
cPanel 11 is not configured correctly to use SSL connection.
Resolution
Check the following:
1) That the correct certificate and private key pair are used.
Your private key and public key form a unique pair and you need to use the matching certificate and key. files.
To check that the public key in your certificate matches the public portion of your private key, view both files, and compare the modulus values.
To view the certificate :
openssl x509 -noout -text -in certificate file
To view the key:
openssl rsa -noout -text -in keyfile
The "modulus" and "public exponent" portions in the key and the certificate must match exactly.
2) Check that a dedicated IP is set and the default port 443 is open for the website.
